The new website is getting closer to being ready. I’m biased but it does look great, not least due to the amazing new content, along with the tips and advice we are offering to our clients through our blog which has been designed especially as a tool to help those looking to buy a luxury overseas.
I am particularly excited by the increase in our advertised portfolio in the French Alps, a favourite place of mine and somewhere I travel to, for my annual intake of what I believe to be the freshest air in the world and the best detox from the mayhem of day to day life.
With the French ski season soon upon us, it’s only natural to consider all that is great about skiing. Apart from being an excellent form of exercise, with positive effects on the heart and circulation, skiing is great for our mental wellbeing with a full day on the slopes guaranteeing a restful sleep and an equally healthy appetite. Apres ski is the most rewarding of experiences.
And in terms of an adrenalin kick, there can be nothing better particularly as you rush down the slopes surrounded by such breathtaking scenery.
Even if you don’t like skiing, other winter sports are readily available including ice skating, snowboarding and even indoor swimming. And remember, you don’t have to clock up any number of runs to enjoy the après ski in an array of the bars, restaurants and clubs. You can also opt for a quiet night in, wrapped up in front of the fire, watching your favourite box set.
The resorts we tend to assist our clients with, are great for families, the ski schools are of particular interest, kids in France, use ski school like PE lessons in the gym in the UK, but it is important that you have a resort that works for all ages and all ski abilities, as this will make your property more of a viable rental option, should you consider the option to rent in peak season. Not everyone is a seasoned professional.
I have certainly seen an increase in interest in properties for sale near the slopes and earlier in the year than usual.
I think part of the appeal of owning an apartment, penthouse or a luxury chalet in the Alps is that the season is longer, compared to those who own a property in a country where the hot climate is the main reason for visiting, this can be limited to a couple of months at most.
Ergo, the potential rental income is greater with some ski resorts offering anywhere between 4 and 6 months per annum.
Ski resorts can be highly desirable during the summer months with resorts like Chamonix and Méribel, blooming into a glorious selection of wildflowers and offering activity fulled summers, ideal for the family, including paragliding, high ropes, white water rafting and lake swimming.
Consider a luxurious 4 bedroom apartment located on the heights of Méribel which is close to the village’s lively centre and the ski slopes and benefiting from simply stunning views of the mountains. One of ten apartments in a residence, the property offers a perfect blend of modern luxury with the traditional architecture associated with Savoyard buildings and is also close to the ski slopes.
If you need more space, and want to rent a villa to holidaying families, then there is a lovely 5 bedroom chalet for sale in the preserved hamlet of Fornet in Val d’Isere also in a traditional Alpine style. This particular chalet has a cinema room, games room and even a wellness centre, complete with massage room, the perfect treat at the end of a hard day’s skiing.
There are also wonderful terraces from where you can appreciate the magnificent scenery surrounding you in this stylish ski resort with arguably the longest winters in the Alps.
Courchevel offers a sophisticated scenery at any time of year and all lifts and cable cars are free during the summer season, enabling those of a more intrepid disposition to explore the Saulire Summit. We have a lovely 2 bedroom apartment for sale in the heart of Courchevel Moriond. The chalet has direct access to the slopes, nothing quite beats the ability to ski-in and ski-out of your own residence.
If you have a long held dream or family ambition to buy and own a chalet, apartment or penthouse anywhere in the French Alps, I would love to meet you and understand your lifestyle objectives, get in touch today and let’s grab a coffee, it’s on me.
